New Board of Commissioners majority takes office in KDH
(As reported in the Outer Banks Sentinel)
Kill Devil Hills Town Clerk Mary Quidley certified the Nov. 8 municipal election results during the town's Dec. 12 Board of Commissioners meeting, announcing that Sheila Davies had been elected mayor with 565 votes, Mike Hogan had been elected commissioner with 576 votes and Brandi Rheubottom had been elected commissioner with 525 votes. Quidley also administered the oath of office to the new board members. Outgoing Commissioner Bob Peele, who did not seek re-election due to moving to Manteo, thanked the sitting board, the citizens and his family for their support. "I have been thinking for months about what to say, and quite honestly, some of my proposed comments would have been very colorful. Decorum and the urging of my wife prohibit me from saying a few things, but I do want to make a point. I want to relate to you a conversation I had with my daughter on election night."
